Wrong Lyrics

Have any of you been absolutely sure of lyrics just to find out you've been singing them wrong for a LONG time? Every time I'm changing Chandler's diaper I sing to him, "Stand up, baby, stand up..." when we are all done. I knew it was a song but wasn't sure what song it was, so I've always sang it to him that way. I kept asking different people if they knew what song it was and Marshall was pretty sure I just made it up. When Jeralee was here last week she recognized the song I started singing and said Charlise (her daughter) even had learned a dance at school to go along with it. Jeralee started busting out doing the dance and it was pretty funny watching her do it. I looked it up and realized the lyrics are, "Hands up, baby hands up" NOT stand up. Oops. So the song is "Hands Up" by Ottawan. Chandler sings the song now when we change his diaper, guess I should start singing the right lyrics with him. I found this on youtube and love the 80's-ness of it. Take care to watch the men with the gold sequined vests, tight white pants & long ponytails. They are my favorite, ROTFL.... I was only 3 when this song came out. Love it, LOL

Wow. Seriously, what were people thinking in the '80's?

But don't feel too bad, I've had many moments karoaking with the fam when I realize that all this time I haven't been singing the right lyrics at all!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh my gosh! Those guys are hilarious. I am either going to have really entertaining and hilarious dreams tonight or super creepy nightmares. It could really go either way with sequins like those. I seriously love the 80s, partially to mock (c'mon, you know you do it too) and partially because it is such a fun era - they couldn't have possibly been concerned with what others thought. And hey, let's face it, any era responsible for "The Labyrinth" (with David Bowie, no less) is an era full of friends of mine. *wink*

"You remind me of the babe"
"What babe?"
"The babe with the power."
"What power?"
"Power of voodoo"
"Who do?"
"You do."
"Do what?"
"Remind me of the babe."

Oh no, now I have to go watch the movie. :o)

" And I used to sing "give me the beach boys and . . ." yeah i found out about a year ago that I was singing the wrong lyrics. whoops. It isn't our fault they need to stop slurring their words! lol

Nice Tiff... just the vision I needed in my head for the rest of the day. I remember when Reba came out with the song "It's your call" my girlfriend and I were on a date in high school & we were singing at the top of our lungs in the car "It's sure cold" needless to say our dates thought we were idiots & told us we were singing it wrong.. haha! We lied and said we were singing it that way because it was cold outside. :)

I have totally sang the wrong words to a song! Kenny Chesney's Rockstar, he sings Banana Joes Bar and i thought it was something else. Anyway, funny clip. Your babies are getting so big. I see you often but not them!
