14 Weeks

Look at me, on the ball this week!  I didn't vlog week 13, but life goes on.  Plugging right along.  Everyone says that subsequent pregnancies go so fast, but it doesn't feel like it's going fast.  Maybe it has to do with the fact that I'm reeeeallly impatient to hold a newborn again.  14 weeks behind me though!  I've been picking up new maternity shirts here and there.  I think this one will make 25-30 weeks before it's too small....if that.  You know how you grow out of your clothes and then grow out of maternity clothes the last 6-8 weeks?  Yeah, that'd be me.  Oh well, it's cute and was a steal for $8 at Ross.

Ready for Spring

Every year about this time, I get antsy for Spring.  This year especially.  It seems like the snow just keeps coming, the cold weather lingers, and it's almost March.  I feel like the boys have had their fare share of electronics for the entire year. Between not feeling great quite often and it being pretty cold outside, we've hung out inside, a LOT.  I also feel like I just can't warm up this winter.  My hands are constantly cold, and I feel like I'm shivering half the day.  I keep the heat cranked up high, am always in sweats and am taking multiple showers and baths a day and still can't kick it.  I was joking with Marshall that I'll probably miss being cold when I'm 36 weeks pregnant at the end of July.   We have gotten out to do a few fun things, one being the Dinosaur Museum.

We had a membership to Thanksgiving Point a few years ago when we lived a few minutes away.  We went all of the time and I think the venues lost their spark for the boys.  2 years later, I decided to get a membership again for something else to do.  We've been to the Dino museum a few times and I can't wait to visit the other venues when it gets warmer.  We're also heading to Scottsdale Arizona next week for 3 days.  It's part of a blog campaign to discover Scottsdale and we've planned the trip all around the boys.  It's supposed to be in the high 70's, maybe into the low 80's!  It will be great to escape the cold for a few days.  Here's to hoping that Spring is right around the corner.

12 Weeks

I'm almost 13 weeks, so I thought I'd better get these up before another week or two goes by.  I'm actually vlogging this pregnancy weekly, which is something I wish I would have done with my boys.  I did keep a journal with each of them starting at about 16 weeks, but I think video is fun.  I plan on compiling them all onto DVD after the baby is born.  I started at 8 weeks, so I'm including a LOT of video in this post since I haven't posted any of them yet.  I'm also going to be taking belly shots every 2 weeks.  I got some cute belly stickers off of Etsy.  Although I'm almost out of the 1st trimester, I'm still getting sick a lot.  I'm so over it.  No weight gain yet.  Craving random things and having food aversions to other random things.  Although it's still pretty early, I was trying to catch a peek between baby's legs yesterday.  I have an idea if baby is a boy or girl, but I'm going to wait another few weeks to confirm before I go announcing it to the world.  It can still be iffy at this point, but I'm about 75% sure which is crazy at not quite 13 weeks, but exciting.  I'm not quite sure when I started showing with the boys, but I'm definitely showing now.  I have nowhere to go but out.  I'm sure I'll get those unsolicited comments starting at 5-6 months on how huge I am.  I got them with the boys.   Below are my 12 week belly shots as well as my 12 week vlog and links to my 8,9,10 & 11 week vlogs.

LA Trip, Lakers Game

Marsh and I spent 3 wonderful days in Los Angeles this week.  I bought him Lakers tickets for Christmas and we made a trip out of it.  We were going to drive, but I ended up finding airfare for cheap, so we flew and rented a car once we got there.  We flew out on Sunday and got to LA about 10:30 am.  By the time we got our car and to the hotel it was around 12:30.  We got settled and headed out to find some lunch.  We ate at a trendy Sushi place and the food was fabulous.  We then headed to a local market to find food for breakfast for the next couple of days.  The rest of the afternoon, we hung out at the hotel.  Later that night we ate at California Pizza kitchen and looked around Target a little bit. This trip was a bit hard when it came to eating.  Either I felt like eating, or I didn't.  Normally I LOVE to eat out, but most of the time when it was time for dinner, nothing sounded good.  I knew I had to eat or I would feel even more sick, so dinner was forced.  I ate a small slice of pizza at pizza kitchen and a couple crusts because I could stomach a bland crust.

Monday we headed out to the Santa Monica Pier to spend the day.  It felt a bit chilly at first and was around 55 degrees, but it was beautiful!!  The sky was blue as could be, and it was nice to get away from the inversion that Salt Lake seems to be constantly experiencing.

I wore my jacket most of the day and honestly, I expected the weather to be warmer than what it was.  We walked around the Pier, took pictures by the ocean, even took some pictures in a photo booth which I don't think we've done since we were teenagers.

We ate lunch at Bubba Gumps and had a great view of the ocean.  After that, we thought it would be fun to rent bikes.  We found a bike rental shop and spent the next 2 hours riding bikes along the ocean.  It was absolutely beautiful and had warmed up a bit more so the weather was perfect.  There seemed to be so much going on, even though it was Monday.

By the time we got our bikes back, it was close to 4 pm.  I told Marshall that I wanted to go see a movie that night so we started looking for theaters.  I wanted to see the Twilight Movie again (Breaking Dawn 2) and I wanted him to see it with me, so he kindly obliged. We found a theater about 40 minutes away that we drove to.  Have I mentioned that I have the best hubby ever?  Before the movie, we went to Sizzler for dinner.  I ate cucumbers and tomatoes for dinner while he feasted on steak and everything the salad bar had to offer.  Another one of those great dinner nights, only veggies sounded good.  It was fun to go to the movie without kids.

A lot of this trip, I just felt like I was so cold and I have no idea why.  We had turned up the heat in our hotel room in the morning and we got back and it still felt cold.  We stayed at a Sheraton downtown so naturally I thought it would be really nice.  It was a nice hotel, but it was old.  The front desk told us that the heating and air was central and there was no way to really control it in the room.  Marshall went and got a space heater instead from the front desk. I didn't really want to sleep in my jacket all night. :(  The first night that we were there, they also gave us a room with double beds instead of a King.  Marsh went to talk to them about that, and they were all booked out because of the grammys going on that night.  Instead, they gave us free parking for the entire time we were there which saved us about $100.

On Tuesday, we went down to the Hollywood walk of fame.  We walked and walked and saw a lot of the stars.  We debated going to the Wax Museum and Ripley's Believe it or Not.  Marshall said we could do that or go shopping.  That was definitely a no brainer for me!  We found some outlet malls and spent what seems like a small fortune.  The next 3 hours we shopped and shopped.  I found a new purse and a bunch of long maternity dresses, a skirt,  and tops.  Marsh got some new work clothes and much needed jeans and t's.  We ate dinner at a 50's type diner called Ruby's before heading out to the Lakers game.

The Lakers game was supposed to start at 7:30, so we figured if we were there by 6:30-6:45, we would be ok.  We got there and got in line to go through security.  There were a LOT of people there.

Once we got in, we went to have our tickets scanned and they wouldn't scan.  There was some sort of a problem with our tickets.  I felt sick.  I spent a good chunk of change on this present for Marshall because they were pretty good seats.  We went to customer service and the guy we were working with said they might be conterfeit.  Come to find out, they were season ticket holder's tickets and they had forwarded new tickets to the season ticket holder AFTER I bought these.  I called the service we bought them through and the girl I talked to felt so bad.  She said there was nothing that they could do, but if we could get new tickets, they would reimburse us, plus any extra cost.  She said to try Stubhub to see if we could get tickets.  Stubhub had 0 tickets left, said that they were sold out.  I lost it here and started crying.  I felt horrible because seeing the Lakers play is honestly something Marshall has always wanted to do.  A bucket list thing.  We had flown all the way down for this game.  Our last attempt was to see if the ticket office had any tickets.  They said they only had singles and I didn't want to sit without Marshall.  As we were giving up hope, she said she had two seats open up.  I asked the price and they were only $10 more than what we had paid for ours.  I asked if they were comparable to our seats that we had and she said they were MUCH better.  By this time, we had been trying to figure out the mess for over an hour.  We got our tickets and ran inside.  There was only a few minutes left of the first quarter.  When we realized where our seats were, we were SO SO excited!  They were front and center.  The only seats better were courtside tickets.  So we were basically second row.  All of the players looked so big up close.  It was amazing to see all of these players, especially ones that even I was familiar with like Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Dwight Howard, and Metta World Peace.  Pau Gasol was injured, but it was still an all star lineup.

When we first got there, I looked over under the basket and thought I saw Shaq.  I asked Marshall and sure enough it was him!  Marshall walked over by Shaq and told me to take a picture.  Marsh is in the yellow hat, Shaq is in red.  It was so funny although security got mad at him, lol.

The game was close but the Lakers ended up winning.  Kobe only had 4 points which is unheard of for him.  In fact, it was his lowest scoring game since he was drafted 17 years ago.  Ironic, yes?  He had a lot of assists though.

It was seriously the most amazing experience and Marshall was smiling and so excited the entire time.  I have no idea how we got tickets on the 2nd row for what we did.  When I was looking at them back in December, tickets that good were $1200 each.

I'm kicking myself for not bringing my nice camera since we were so close.  Of course, both our phones went dead and I only got a little clip of them playing before it died.

After the game, we ate at IHOP and then went back to our hotel.  We got a whopping 3 hours of sleep before we had to be up to make our 6:45 am flight.  It was a wonderful trip, and much needed time with my sweetheart.

First OB Appointment, 11 weeks

I had my first OB appointment on my birthday, the 6th.  I was 11 weeks 1 day, and it was a great little addition to the day.  I chose a new OB because I want to deliver at the hospital that I work at.  Believe it or not, I looked at reviews online before choosing him.  He's an older man that has been practicing almost as many years as I've been alive.

I was impressed with the office.  They seemed very organized and I didn't have to wait long at all.  I had my weight and blood pressure taken, gave a urine sample, had blood drawn and then waited to see the Dr.  It had been almost 2 years since I had a pap smear so that they did that as well.  I really like my new Dr.  He was incredibly nice, spent a good amount of time with me, was great to listen to my questions, and even addressed concerns that I hadn't thought about.  He offered to get me a prescription for nausea, but I said I'd been ok controlling it.  I had been until later that night after the appointment when I decided to throw up more times than I could count.  Ironic, yes?  I asked him about running a half marathon in April and he encouraged it, said it was a great idea.  If I ever get enough energy to get some long runs in, I might feel prepared for it.  I told the Dr. that I was an ultrasound tech and he seemed glad that I knew the baby was growing and developing like it should.  He found the heartbeat with the doppler which was fun.  Even though I scan myself often, it's always fun to hear baby's heartbeat.

We talked about c-section timing.  I've gone overdue with both the boys.  Chan was an emergency c-section and Rowan was scheduled when I went overdue and failed to go on my own.  He said they normally deliver a week early, but honestly, I'm wanting to go to my due date.  I know that they usually do c-sections earlier so you don't go into labor as well, but he wasn't worried that I'd go into labor since I haven't ever on my own.  He said if I wanted to go to my due date, that was no problem.  I might schedule for a few days early, but I strongly believe that pregnancy is not a convenience and that we have due dates for a reason.  I get annoyed when I scan women that are 36-37 weeks and say they are so uncomfortable they can't take anymore.  You've been pregnant that long, what is a few more weeks?   I'll get off that rant for now.

I've had a lot of people ask me if I want a girl.  The answer is of course I want a girl, but I also want a boy.  I want a healthy baby, and since the sex was determined long ago, I don't see a point in getting hyped up about it.  I'm just SO excited at the thought of having a baby in the house again.  I'm sure that I will find out a lot earlier just because I can scan myself, so I'm hoping to know if baby is a boy or a girl by the first part of March when I am 15-16 weeks.  My OB was sensitive to the fact that I am an ultrasound tech and asked if I'd rather have someone I know do my scan and not have it done in his office.  I thought it was really thoughtful.  I'm going to schedule it so that my mentor from ultrasound school will do it.  She's amazing, and there's nobody I trust more when it comes to ultrasound.

I am worried about swelling and being pregnant in the heat of the summer.  I retained SO much water with Chandler and he was born in October, I'm nervous what an August baby will be like.

I started doing a video diary once a week starting at 8 weeks.  I knew that I wanted to do a really good job documenting this pregnancy.  Just warning, you might get a lot more detail than you want if you actually read here. ;)  I didn't do a terrible job with the boys, but I don't have much until 16-18 weeks.  I'll share video diaries when I get around to uploading them on youtube.  A lot of my thoughts that are here are also on my videos, but it never hurts to have my bases covered, right?  I also bought some cute tummy stickers so that I can do biweekly photos.

I'm starting to poke out a little, and I can't suck it in, so I'm glad that people know about the baby.  No weight gain yet, but I tend to pack it on in the 3rd trimester.

Alright, I guess I'm done with this novel for now.  I just need to record my thoughts while I have them. Video journals and pictures to come!!  WAHOO!

Birthday Happenings

I had a pretty darn good birthday, minus getting sick, and 30 isn't as bad as it seems.  I woke up in the morning to find a trail of popcorn that led to our coffee table downstairs.  There was a big bowl full of popcorn with tons of Julia Roberts movies.  She's definitely my favorite!  There was also a Nothing Bundt Cake (If you've never had one, you are missing out!), some other treats, a card from Marsh & the boys and a Victoria's Secret bag.  Rest assured that there was an adorable new pair of sweats from the PINK line in there.  Marsh told me to kick up my feet, and watch movies and eat cake all day.  We were planning on going to dinner that night, but I was feeling nauseated - thank you pregnancy.  I ended up having a puke fest until 3 am and there was nothing else in my tummy.  I'm so grateful to be pregnant, but I could do without feeling nauseated and puking.  Anywho, glad to be 30!

Turning 30

I've honestly been dreading turning 30.  I can never be in my 20's again. *sob*  I have 1 more day to enjoy of being 29.  I did get one big early birthday present which softens the idea of turning 30.  Watch the video below to see what it was.

100 Days

Chandler has been talking all week about 100 days of school which was on Thursday the 31st.  When he woke up that morning, he was so excited to go to school because his teacher had a lot of fun things planned.  He said they were going to be doing a few art projects, and art is definitely his favorite subject.  When I picked him up, he had these awesome 100 day glasses on.
He also had to write a paper on what he would buy if he had $100.  An ipad with 31 apps and and iphone with 8 apps.  Yeah, that's a little more than $100 buddy.  Dare to dream big. :)

Rowan is 5!

My baby is 5.  My BABY.  Seriously, it makes me want to cry because in all honesty, I don't know where the time has gone.

Rowan turned 5 on the 17th.  Marsh had to be out of town for business, so he put together an impromptu surprise birthday party for Rowan.  While we were at Chandler's basketball practice, Marsh got a cake, decorated, wrapped all of the presents, and set out Avengers costumes for the boys for an Avenger birthday party.  (I think he should be the wife and not me.  He's so much better at this type of stuff.)  Rowan was so surprised and so excited to see everything when he came in.

He opened presents which included a Batman Jail, and Medix, the only Transformers Rescue bot he doesn't have.  Yes, he has every Rescue Bot that Hasbro makes, but when you like something, that's what your parents get you for every holiday. :)  He also got a Spiderman spy kit from Gma&Gpa Snedaker, and money from Puppy and Papa Nielson.

The day of Rowan's birthday, I picked both boys up from school and we headed down to Chuck E Cheese.  We bought 100 tokens and I let the boys go to town.  We went on a Thursday afternoon and there was basically nobody there, which was really nice.  The boys had SO much fun.  Then we went to Carl's Jr. for dinner.  Last, we went to Target to get Rowan a toy with his birthday money from Puppy & Papa.  We went down a clearance isle and saw two really awesome toys marked 70% off.  One was an Ironman Headquarters and the other was the Transformer Police Bot Station.  They were both normally $30 and $40 toys, but he was able to get them both for $20 which he was so excited about!  We came home and the boys played toys and we Skyped with Marshall.  Rowan declared it to be his best birthday ever.  Let's hope we can top it next year!
